Over the summer holidays we are having our annual close down and refurbishment of the headquarters so we're looking for anyone who can either give their time or something we need to keep Heron House in great working order.

1st Whickham wins the Wick's Trophy at Sports Day!

Scout Sports Day 2010 was on Saturday 20th June at Joseph Swan School and we won the Wick's Trophy for the 'best all round troop.' The trophy has been awarded since 1920 and we believe this is the first time 1st Whickham have won it, so well done too all those who turned up and made it possible! (Parents and leaders are, of course, included in this.)

Parking on Park Drive

Northumbria Police have been in contact about car parking on Park Drive. The police have received a number of complaints from residents about parking and we will shortly be passing on a letter from them to all users of the hall. We ask everyone parks their car with consideration for the law and for other road users.

We won the Scout Dodgeball - the 1st came FIRST!

The dodgeball was a great success, especially as we won! Our team only lost two games (one of them to the explorers) and won four; the final was a close run thing but our boys did really well. It's just a shame there isn't a trophy for the dodgeball, we'll have to convince the district to get one made up!

Monday, March 29, 2010

Are you coming to the dodgeball on Tuesday night?

The games begin at 19.00, please come in uniform and make sure you bring your £2!

Are you ready for Easter Camp?

Easter Camp is coming! We're leaving on Good Friday, 2nd April, and returning Easter Monday. Make sure you bring all the right kit, along with your signed consent form! It's probably going to be cold, so make sure you've got warm clothes and lots of them.

1st Whickham Scouts reach final in district football compeition

Our Scouts made it to the final in the District Five-a-side competition on the 6th of March, but as there were six of them and only five to a team, one was actually on the winning side as he was filling in on a team of four! So, in a way, we won and lost at the same time.
